We launched a podcast! ISU Extension Farm Management Specialist Tim Christensen and I recently launched a new podcast called County Roads. As longtime podcast listeners ourselves, Tim and I both appreciate being able to access information we are interested in on our own schedules. With that in mind, we created County Roads to focus on topics important to farmers, with conversations grounded in both the business and legal sides of agriculture. Our hope is that farmers can tune in without taking time away from the farm.
Our first episode (live now!) covers farm succession planning and includes a discussion of what we are hearing from farm families who are navigating or beginning to think about a farm transition. Our next episode will air on May 19th and features ISU field agronomist Aaron Saeugling, who shares his expertise and practical insights on soil sampling, interpreting soil reports, and making informed management decisions, providing information for both new and experienced producers.
Going forward, listeners can expect straightforward conversations about the real-world issues farms face every day, including production, financing, land access, labor, taxes, and succession planning.
